Chapter 10 Violet Strikes Back
Hehe!
Rosalie Leach never changes—still spinning lies like clockwork.
Caleb Leach turned to Violet, recalling her claim of being the disciple of the Divine Physician, while Rosalie had just declared she'd found the Divine Physician herself.
This...
"Xiuze, Rongrong may not share your blood, but she cares for you far more than your real sister ever has. Shouldn't you show her more regard?" Heaven Leach spoke sincerely. He truly saw Rosalie as his own daughter.
Violet watched coldly, fully aware of his implication: dismiss her, his real daughter, and redirect loyalty to Rosalie.
What a world-class father indeed!
"Dad! How could you!" Caleb exploded—not for himself, but for Violet. He felt fury on her behalf, aching for her pain.
His sister, hearing her own father utter such heartless words, must be shattered inside!
"Fine, fine! Caleb, are you set on defending this brat to the end?" Heaven Leach jabbed a finger at him, face twisted with rage.
"She. Is. My. Sister." Each word fell from Caleb's lips like stone.
Seeing Caleb stand before her, shielding her with those unyielding words, Violet would be lying if she said she wasn't moved.
"Excellent! You two are a family, but not one with us. Fine! From this day forward, not a single cent will come your way! And you, Caleb—your hospital and treatment costs are yours to cover!" Heaven Leach believed this threat would break them.
But—
"Don't worry. We won't ask you for a single cent, either!" Violet shot back, ice in her voice.
Better yet, she planned to move Caleb to the hospital's finest ward and hire a private nurse.
"Then remember! If you run out of money and come crawling back, even if you kneel and kowtow before me, I won't spare you a glance!" With that, Heaven Leach stormed off.
"Wait," Violet called.
"Regretting?" Heaven Leach sneered.
Violet didn't even look at him. Her gaze locked onto Rosalie.
"You said you found the Divine Physician? Then where is she?"
Rosalie hadn't expected this. "Do you really think I'd casually reveal the movements of such a great master?"
Violet's eyes narrowed, a glacial fire flashing within. "Rosalie Leach, you call her a great master—then you should know such figures aren't to be defamed lightly. Trying to claim a connection? Do you really think I won't go public with your words—announce that you know the Divine Physician? When the master herself appears, furious, just see how you'll face her!"
Rosalie turned ashen. She'd lied to Heaven Leach, claiming she'd found the Divine Physician, just to win his affection and attention. And it had worked.
Heaven Leach had immediately handed her a generous allowance to buy designer bags and clothes.
He wasn't a fool. Seeing the situation unravel, he barked, "Rongrong, did you lie or not?"
"I—I—" Rosalie's mind raced like ants on a scorched pan.
Then Violet tapped her phone. A recording played.
"Rosalie Leach, choose your next words carefully. Ask yourself—can you really afford to anger the Divine Physician?"
Rosalie gulped hard, eyes wide with terror.
"Rongrong! Tell the truth!" Heaven Leach roared.
Rosalie's heart slammed against her ribs. She stared at him in shock.
He'd always doted on her, never raised his voice—this was the first time. The gravity was unmistakable.
"Dad! I'm sorry! I lied! I'm so sorry—"
Heaven Leach was stunned. His beloved daughter had told a monstrous lie.
"Dad, forgive me! I didn't mean to! I just wanted more of your love, to make you happy! I didn't mean it, truly!"
"Heh—" Violet scoffed, turning to Heaven Leach. "You say I'm immature for offending Brian Mosley. But now your darling daughter has offended the Divine Physician! Tsk tsk—the Divine Physician! Brian Mosley before her? He's less than dust!"
The more Violet spoke, the more Rosalie trembled. She dropped to desperate pleas. "Sister, I was wrong! I shouldn't have lied! Please delete the recording, I beg you!"
All her earlier disdain for Violet was gone—she was moments from collapsing to her knees.
Eleanor Young joined in. "Ah Yu, please delete it. I've always treated you fairly, I—"
"Treated me fairly? You have the gall to say that?" Violet cut her off. "Since you and your daughter entered this family, how much abuse have I endured? Without my brother protecting me, I doubt I'd have survived this long."
"Enough!" Heaven Leach pressed his temples, irritation boiling over. "Delete the recording! Do you think this is a game? That's the Divine Physician! If we anger that master, the Leach family will vanish in an instant!"
Violet had had enough. "Get out. My brother is healing. You're too loud."
Heaven Leach clenched his fists, aching to slap her.
"Just delete it first—"
"Get out! Didn't you hear? I'm counting to three. If you don't leave, I'll release this recording." Violet's icy glare pinned them all.
Heaven Leach burned with fury and humiliation, yet feared Violet might actually do it. In the end, he stormed out, swallowing his rage.
"Brother, why are you up? Lie down." Violet guided Caleb back to bed.
"Ah Yu, was that true? Are you really the Divine Physician's disciple?" Caleb stared at her, eyes wide.
