Chapter 8
I twisted the throttle again, and the bike shot out of the alley with both of us on it. I pushed it to the limit, tearing through crowded streets.
"Lindsey, can you hear it? That's the sound of the wind," I shouted, my voice ripped apart by the air, but I knew she heard me.
"Remember this. No man is worth lowering your dignity for, not even when there's a child involved. You are Lindsey Waterston. You were the queen bee of Riverside High. No one gets to make you surrender."
Behind me, Lindsey was already sobbing uncontrollably. She clutched me tightly, burying her face against my back. Her scalding tears soaked through my clothes. "I know… I know…"
However, the danger wasn't over. In the rearview mirror, a black sedan was closing in fast. "Run them down. Don't let them get away."
The car blared its horn wildly, swerving again and again as it tried to ram our rear wheel.
