Once she was done writing it, Nyla figured she could demand as much money from Reyna as possible. Either way, she wouldn't lose. So, she finished writing immediately, signed her name, and slapped the paper on the table.
"There! Happy now? And you did promise to pay me for raising you, so let's have it."
Reyna picked up the still-warm sheet. Then, she gently blew on the ink, folded it neatly, and slipped it into her purse. After doing all this, she looked up at Nyla with confusion.
"Pay you? For what?"
Nyla was stunned when she heard this. However, her expression quickly changed. "You said one million dollars just now!"
"Oh?" Reyna pretended to suddenly understand. "I could've sworn you just said you wanted to cut ties with me for moral reasons, because I'd embarrassed you and you wanted to protect your family's reputation."
