Noelle nodded. It really was because of that car crash years ago.
Cedric gently squeezed her hand. "It's all in the past now. You're safe."
His words comforted Noelle. She snuggled against his chest, feeling well-protected in his arms.
The dreams were nothing but nightmares. She had fought desperately to wake up, and now that she was in his arms, she finally felt at peace.
Cedric could feel her leaning on him. He held her close, simply wanting to keep her warm.
He was sure Noelle had remembered something Carl had done to her. That must be why she was so terrified. But he didn't dare ask, afraid it would only reopen her wounds.
Noelle's mind was filled with memories of the car crash. Cedric, on the other hand, was thinking about what Carl might have done to her. Neither of them spoke.
After resting a bit, Noelle felt it wasn't quite appropriate to keep clinging to Cedric. After all, they had broken up again.
