It seemed Blair now owed Alexander another favor. A twinge of irritation pricked at her.
"Thank you. I'm feeling better now. My friend will be here soon, so you don't need to stay," she said.
"You still owe me money. I don't want anything to happen to you," Alexander replied.
He lifted his hand and covered her eyes with his palm, blocking the harsh overhead light.
"Get some rest," he whispered.
His hand nearly covered her entire face. As fatigue settled in, Blair found herself slowly drifting off.
"Blair, Blair…"
Suddenly, she heard someone calling her name.
Still groggy, Blair blinked her eyes open and saw her friend's face. For a moment, she wondered if it was all just a dream.
Gianna handed her a thermos. "Why didn't you tell me you were sick? If someone hadn't called me, I never would've known you were here."
Blair's head was still fuzzy, and she paid little attention to Gianna's words. When the IV drip was finished, she got up to leave.
