"Take us to the restaurant," Matteo spoke commandingly, just as he had always ordered her around in the past.
However, Mila was no longer who she had once been, so she would not pander to him any longer.
She refused politely but firmly, replying, "Little Bridge isn't far from here. You can just get a cab, Mr. Hall."
He frowned, looking impatient, and reminded her sharply. "Don't forget that you're driving a company car. I get to decide how it's used."
Mila deflated all of a sudden.
He was right. The car belonged to Royal Investment, which belonged to Matteo.
It had nothing to do with her, even though she had worked herself to the bone for both Royal Investment and Matteo for seven years.
Mila suppressed the heavy feeling in her chest and handed her car key to Matteo. "Here. I'm returning it."
She no longer wanted him or her job, so there was no need to keep the car, either.
He had once given her all those things one by one. Now, he was taking them back one by one.
