If Emily had stayed by Noah's side all along, he would never have looked at her the way he did now.
Back when she was right there beside him, all his eyes could see was Bella. Even when Bella stormed off and left, he never really let her go or moved on.
"You said it yourself in the tweet that you didn't love me when we got married. You never stopped loving Bella, and everything you did proved that over and over again.
"Noah, you don't love me. You're just used to me being there."
Emily's final words sounded like a death sentence to Noah. He opened his mouth and tried to force out some defense, but words stuck in his throat.
She wasn't wrong. He'd hurt her and said those words that shattered her heart, so there was nothing he could say now. Was he supposed to argue that he'd realized his feelings too late, or that an old obsession had blinded him?
Those were just hollow and empty excuses, and she'd never believe them anyway.
