The more Samuel went on, the more convinced he was of his own reasoning. He was practically moved by his own speech.
"Julie, do you remember that documentary about childbirth we watched after we got married? It's all bloody and brutal!
"That's the reality of childbirth! So many women suffer unbearable pain in the delivery room just to bring a child into the world. I even felt pain watching it. How could I possibly bear to let you go through that kind of torment?
"So, isn't this the perfect arrangement?" Samuel took Julie's hand and said affectionately, "Cynthia bore us children. You get an adorable pair of twins without any of the pain. One boy, one girl, and a pain-free mother. This is a good thing. Why are you angry?"
Julie nearly laughed from sheer rage at listening to Samuel's outrageous remarks.
