Chapter 11
Clarence spent the night smoking downstairs, leaving cigarette butts scattered across the floor.
Laura's chat stayed open on his phone, but he never sent a single message. Maybe it was indifference, or perhaps it was guilt—but whatever the reason, he wasn't ready to end things with her.
Just before dawn, the Lovell family's private helicopter landed on the hospital rooftop. Clarence returned to the ward and woke Michelle up.
She was still half-asleep when she jolted awake at the thought of her wedding to Clarence. She quickly got ready, and the two of them headed up to the rooftop.
But as they were about to board the helicopter, he suddenly received a call from the apartment's landlord. He hesitated for a few seconds before answering.
"Mr. Lovell, today's the last day of your lease. Please make sure to remove all your belongings so I can put the place back on the market."
Clarence froze, trying to wrap his head around what he meant by "last day".
