It was foggy and misty, the next morning, and Eliana sneaked out of Damian’s house to find Max. She got on a bus on her own.
Eliana spent the entire trip looking out the window. Finally, she walked over to her kindergarten after taking a deep breath. She planned to ask Max what was up. She believed her parents loved each other and were fighting because of a misunderstanding.
The gate of the kindergarten was closed because it was not time for class yet. So, Eliana went into the convenience store across the street and waited.
When it was nearly nine o’clock, a black car, she recognized pulled up in front of the store. Eliana quickly swallowed the bread in her mouth, grabbed her school bag, and ran out of there.
