I stared at the ground floor apartment hesitantly, willing myself to just leave the car and cross the street in order to knock on the door. I had been sat outside for the past twenty minutes, not being able to work up the motion of actually opening the car door and confronting her. Why was I so nervous? I'd literally been through so much worse, why was this being such a problem?
Another rumble of thunder echoed in the distance, the sky turning grey in a typical New York fashion. The clouds were gathering quick and beginning to spit rain, passersby either hasting their pace or opening their umbrellas ready. I sighed and continued to watch the house, paying particular attention to the kitchen window that looked out onto the street.
