"How did you know my home address?" Celine asked after bringing in the refreshments.
"Your Grandpa told me," I answered, opening a can of beer.
Her eyes flashed at my response, and she sat up straight.
"He doesn't know about today," I assured her, noticing her worried expression about him finding out about her narrow accident.
"Of course, he doesn't." Her shoulders sagged in relief. "Or I would be interviewing potential drivers now."
I raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement on my face. "You don't mean it."
"He's very tenacious."
"When it comes to his granddaughter's safety," I concluded. "He loves you a lot."
Celine agreed. "He does, but he's too overbearing sometimes."
I smiled. "It's good that you have someone who cares deeply about you."
"Don't you?" She watched me intently.
"I do," I replied, my tone clipped.
Her eyes twitched at my response, but she didn't pursue the conversation, nodding instead.
I glanced at the time. "Is it time for me to leave?"
