"You stutter too."
My heart skipped a beat at Celine's words over breakfast.
I was subconsciously aware she was with me last night.
I had known it was her when I held her hand last night.
I had woken up then, pulled out from the memory of my mom.
It was a memory I wanted buried deep. It hurt too deeply to be reminded of her passing.
She hadn't deserved to die so early. The good ones rarely lived long though.
I had braced myself for the confrontation from Celine, knowing how she was, but I still couldn't brace myself against the shock.
Being confronted about my past that I had so painstakingly overcome and failed to blur out from my memory was shocking.
"Was that why you were so defensive about Connor?" she asked.
"So? Will you run for the hills?" I replied.
"Maybe. But there are no hills around here."
I resumed eating.
"Were you bullied as a kid?" she asked.
"You should eat, Celine."
