Chapter Ninety Six: Hanging Out with Best Buddies

"Long time no see, buddy." Matt slapped me on the arm, and I exchanged handshakes and brotherly hugs with him.
He arrived minutes later after Eric and I arrived at the bar.
He took the vacant seat at the center of the table. "Already having fun without me?" He asked, looking at the half-emptied bottles of beer before me and Eric.
"We couldn't wait," Eric answered.
"Come on. I am only five minutes late."
Eric counted the numbers on his fingers and flashed them in Matt's face.
"That's a lot of numbers if you ask me," Eric muttered.
He emptied the rest of his beer bottle and raised another one to his house mouth, uncorking it.
"What's the story?" Matt inquired, helping himself to one of the orders on the table.
Eric slapped the bottom of his bottle down, looking gloomy.
Matt looked at Eric then me, mouthing, "What's wrong with him?"
I shrugged. "Don't know." I had no idea what was wrong with Eric.
He had been drinking himself down since I joined him at the table, and
