From the start, Charlotte knew Daniel could have won earlier. He was merely humoring Errol in the chess game.
Errol wanted to preserve his dignity, so he refused to ask Daniel for help.
However, he would be over the moon if Charlotte helped him with the game. That was why Daniel allowed her to continue playing on Errol's behalf.
Winning and losing didn't matter to Daniel. He wanted to play chess with Errol and lift his spirits.
Errol took a picture of the chessboard with a chuckle. "That's all for today. Let's have dinner. I'm starving."
