Chapter 1037
One of them was Zivon’s grandmother who disliked her… As for the other, she was Zivon’s business partner whom she wasn’t all that familiar with… Such a combination made Xavia rightfully uncomfortable.
Bracing herself for the worst, Xavia took a deep breath before saying, “Lady Burton, Chairman Harrison…”
Nodding in response, Ava then gestured toward a seat before saying, “Come, have a seat. The reason I called you over today is to talk about the matchmaking results. Since we’ve known each other for so long, I won’t beat around the bush. I want you to take the initiative to tell the public that you aren’t actually interested in being together with Zivon, and that you only participated for fun. Naturally, Fiona will then be allowed to be with Zivon.”
“Of course, I’m not telling you to do all this without proper compensation. Just state your demands and I’ll try to fulfill them,” concluded Ava who was clearly still as high and mighty as ever…
Regardless, Xavia could already tell that Ava was expecting her to ask for money, and that honestly made Xavia dislike the old woman even more. She had never liked the way Ava did things, and Xavia’s displeasure only increased when she remembered how Ava had helped Jenna redeem herself back then.
With all that in mind, Xavia was prompted to reply, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you say that you wouldn’t interfere with Young Master Burton’s love life anymore? And that you really regretted doing all that in the past? Was that all a lie, then? Then again, I guess it’s to be expected from someone who would cover up Jenna’s misdeeds, even after she cheated on Zivon with Keith. Your hypocrisy truly is on a whole other level.”
Upon hearing that, Ava’s face turned pale in anger as she yelled, “You…!”
Even if she had said all that to cover up Jenna’s misdeeds, it was necessary to prevent a family scandal! That aside, Ava truly was ashamed of her actions, and she wondered time and again how she was going to face her ancestors once she passed away… Regardless, to think that Xavia would actually say all this before Sophia! An outsider…!
Now filled with resentment, Ava glared at Xavia as she retorted, “You say that, but how honorable are you in comparison? Don’t think for one second that I wasn’t aware that you and Zivon were already hooking up before Jenna divorced him! With that said, what right do you have to call me a hypocrite?! All you Lockharts are equally despicable! Never come here again, you hear me…! Now get lost!”
Though Xavia really couldn’t be bothered with the infuriated woman’s unceremonious expulsion, she knew better than to snap back. After all, if Ava were to faint because of her, she’d have to bear responsibility over that for life. With that in mind, Xavia simply replied, “Rest assured, Lady Burton. It’s not like I ever wanted to come back here in the first place.”
Following that, Xavia turned to leave, causing Sophia’s face to go pale.
The truth was, Lady Burton had earlier asked her why she hadn’t altered the results in her favor. Though Sophia disliked the idea of people making arrangements for her, she remained polite toward the old woman. After all, not only was she an elder, but she was also Zivon’s grandmother.
That aside, to think that even though Xavia looked so friendly, her temperament was on a whole other level…
Shaking the thought off, Sophia quickly got to her feet before saying, “…Please try to remain calm for now, Lady Burton. I’ll be heading back first.”
Though she said that, she quickly ran after Xavia… And once she was in sight, Sophia was prompted to call out, “Miss Lockhart, please wait for a moment.”
Stopping in her tracks, Xavia then turned to look at the prestigious Sophia before indifferently asking, “Is something the matter, Chairman Harrison?”
“For one, I really admire your courage… You aren’t an ordinary girl at all. However… Despite how dissatisfied you are, you should still consider talking to Lady Burton nicely on Young Master Burton’s account… Otherwise, he’ll be put in a rather difficult position…”
…So, she was only saying all this since she was worried about Zivon? It was now clearer than ever that Zivon and Sophia’s relationship wasn’t as simple as being colleagues…
In the end, Xavia was prompted to reply, “Don’t worry, he won’t be troubled by my actions since I’ve already broken up with Young Master Burton, Chairman Harrison. That aside, I believe that someone as capable as you will be able to handle things well with him…”
“…Come again? I think there may have been a bit of a misunderstanding here, Miss Lockhart…” replied the confused Sophia.
