"Sophia is already gone. Why are you still badmouthing her? Eva, you've changed—you're not the person I used to know!"
Eva sat there, her hands covering her face as she sobbed quietly for a long while. When it was clear Lucas had no intention of comforting her, she could only force herself to calm down, voice trembling with frustration. "Lucas, please don't be mad. I—I was wrong, okay? I know I'm nothing like Sophia, and I shouldn't have hoped you'd fall for me. But… can you not leave me?"
"Get out. And don't ever step foot in Sophia's room again." Lucas spoke calmly now, but there was still that cold impatience in his tone.
There was a time when hearing Eva say such things would've made him think she was deeply hurt. But now, it just made him feel annoyed.
"Okay… I'll leave now," she said, biting her lip and nodding.
She'd taken a huge gamble, all because Lucas was still wrapped up in his longing for Sophia. But pushing any harder now? Definitely not wise.
