The cold air bit at my skin as I hurried out of my office, my mind racing with everything I had just learned. I had to confront Sara. I had to hear it from her own mouth, how she had manipulated me all these years, how she had twisted the truth about that day, and how she had used me.
My footsteps echoed down the hall, my heart pounding in my chest. I wasn’t sure what I was going to say, but I knew one thing for sure I was done being in the dark. I was done being her pawn.
I drove to Sara’s parents’ house, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles turned white. The anger, the betrayal, it was all too much. I had to get to the bottom of this, and I had to do it now.
