My chest was tight, and no matter how much I tried to breathe, it felt like I was drowning. The sound of my own heart pounding in my ears only made it worse. My father was in a coma, and I couldn’t stop blaming myself. I should have forgiven him. I should have been there for him when he needed me the most.
