Chapter 60:
Eva’s Point of View
The cold metal bench felt like it was digging into my bones as I sat in the small interrogation room. My wrists still ached from the cuffs, but it was the weight of the situation pressing down on me that hurt the most. I had thought that after everything I’d been through, I would finally find peace. But standing here, in the sterile, dimly lit room, I couldn’t help but feel like I was trapped in a nightmare that I couldn’t escape from.
The door to the room opened abruptly, and I tensed, knowing exactly who would be standing there. Max walked in first, his presence a storm cloud that made everything feel suffocating. His eyes locked onto mine, and I couldn’t look away, even though every instinct in my body screamed at me to avoid his gaze.
Sara followed him, her steps light but purposeful, like she was relishing the moment. I could practically hear the smirk on her face without even looking at her. But it wasn’t her that I was focused on, no, it was Max.
