Chapter 84

After he found an inexplicable woman appearing beside him, he found himself burdened with many tasks which he shouldn't have had. "Big uncle, you look just about thirty years older than me, but when you smile, you seem much younger." Alvin joked with Joseph. They really are two of a kind. Alvin turned on the TV in the room and watched some cartoons. After Melissa and Alvina came out, it was Joseph and Alvin’s turn to head into the bathroom, only to be confronted with a floor full of long hair! After settling Alvina to sleep in the children's room, Melissa went to the bedroom. Just as she was about to rest, she noticed something was amiss. "Room service!" With the velocity of a 100-meter sprinter, Melissa flung the door open and ran to the corridor and called out, but no one came even after she waited for more than ten seconds. She reluctantly walked to the front desk in the lobby, dressed in pyjamas and slippers. "Why haven't you changed the double bed in room 506?" The front desk attendant looked at Melissa apologetically. "I'm sorry, ma'am, we don't have any spare beds left." "I had already asked you to change the double bed in room 506 to twin beds in the afternoon. What were you doing all this while?" Melissa was mad. She had just wanted to have a comfortable sleep, but even such a simple request could not be fulfilled. "Never mind, just give me a single room then." "I’m sorry, madam, but we’re fully booked. We do not have any vacant rooms left." The attendant looked at the angry Melissa Melissa and dared not speak loudly. What?! Why was the universe playing such tricks on her? Had she known earlier, she would not have stayed in this inn. But who could help it when the ancient city was such a hot property, and almost all places were fully booked. Melissa got dispiritedly on the elevator to the fifth floor. As she walked step by step towards room 506, she felt an urge to knock on Grandma Julia's door. Melissa opened the door to room 506 just in time to see Joseph escorting Alvin into the children's room. "Hold on!" Melissa immediately stopped Alvin. "Alvin you're sleeping with Uncle Joseph tonight, Alvina will sleep with me" "Huh? But, I'm not comfortable sleeping with others, I won't get any sleep." Alvin clearly disagreed with his mother's decision, he alone entered the children's room, comfortably lying in his little bed. "The children's room bed is only 1.5 meters, you won't fit anyway!" Joseph looked at Melissa, seeing her worried and bitter expression made him feel a bit of schadenfreude. Joseph, with that he closed the door to the children's room, leisurely falling onto the spacious bed. "But I also can't sleep with you, right?" Melissa felt like she was about to lose her mind, this was such a twisted fate! Joseph looked at the helpless Melissa, shifted to the side and casually said. "Considering your care for our great-grandmother in the Ghost Gate Cavern, I grudgingly have a place for you on the bed. Come." "No!" Melissa declared resolutely. "Then sleep on the floor." Joseph responded without courtesy, again claiming the space next to him. Melissa looked at Joseph with burgeoning frustration, she despairingly said. "How can you lack gentlemanly manners, I am a girl you know!" "Sorry, I didn't realize." Joseph turned over, pretending to fall asleep. Melissa sat on the sofa, flipping through TV channels, she was so sleepy it was making her head spin, her eyes stars. In her exhaustion, Melissa turned off the TV, picked up a blanket, spread it on the floor. Crawling inside the blanket, the floor was hard on her back. Joseph saw her actually sleeping on the floor, secretly taking glee. Melissa tossing and turning on the floor, even by 2 AM, couldn't succumb to sleep. Just when she was finally falling asleep, the sound of moans and creaking bed came from the room next door. "This lousy place, with no sound insulation at all!" The shameful sounds were transmitted clearly into Melissa's ears. She knew that Joseph hadn't really fallen asleep, so she didn’t dare to turn around anymore. Melissa was screaming silently; 'The floor's so cold, it hurts my back! Oh, my old waist!' The next morning, Melissa had slept for less than an hour before being awakened by the children's playful noises. She opened her eyes and saw Joseph climbing on the edge of the bed, looking at her. "Hey, you're drooling." Joseph looked at Melissa with a mischievous grin on his face. Melissa subconsciously wiped her mouth, finding out that she was fooled. She hadn't drooled at all. Joseph laughed even more proudly. He got out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower, while Melissa's children, Alvin and Alvina, were energetically chasing each other in their room. Seeing this, Melissa knew that she couldn't stay in bed any longer. She strained to sit up. "Ah! My neck, I've got a crick." Melissa muttered under her breath, then threw back the covers, and realized that her period had started. Just her luck! Melissa quickly took a sanitary pad out of her bag, grabbed her clothes and ran to the public restroom. When she returned to her room after dealing with her issue, she saw Joseph about to pick up her quilt from the floor. "Don’t touch it, I'll handle it." Melissa ran over, picked up the quilt from the floor, and went out the door again. She put the bedding on the cleaning cart directly. After all, it needed to be washed. It didn't matter if it was put there a bit earlier. "Melissa, good morning!" Grandma Julia had just come out from the diagonal room 515 and upon seeing Melissa carrying out a bedding set, she couldn't help but casually ask. "What happened?" "Ah, it's nothing, it just got dirty." Melissa smiled at her grandmother and went back into her own room. She hadn't even washed her face and brushed her teeth yet. At this point, she was both tired and sleepy. Her back hurt, her waist hurt, her stomach hurt, she could hardly open her eyes. Joseph, seeing that Grandma Julia had woken up, also came out of his room to greet her. "Grandmother, you're awake." Grandma Julia shot Joseph a resentful look, half-jokingly complaining "Yes, I'm awake! You two really did keep me up for the latter half of the night, aren't you afraid of disturbing the children? Don't stay up this late in the future!" "Understood." Joseph respectfully bowed his head in response to his grandmother and made his way back into his room. His grandmother might have misinterpreted what happened. ........ While Melissa was brushing her teeth in the bathroom, Alvin and Alvina started to pack up their bags. Joseph glanced at Melissa from the bathroom door, he wanted to say something but stopped himself and went off to pack his own items. Today they were heading to Breeze Valley, Billos Spring, and One-line Sky. After everyone had gathered their luggage and left the guesthouse, Melissa, the last one, handed over the room key card to the front desk, then left the inn as well. "Good morning, driver." Alvin greeted politely, his eyes gleaming. Alvina followed suit, cheerily greeting the driver as well. The driver smiled back at the two children, then turned to Joseph and asked "Young Master, where to first?" "Let's start with the One-line Sky climbing." Joseph replied concisely.
