Chapter 397
Morgan quickly understood. He realized that Lily was trying to use him as a shield.
"Yes! What Lily said is true. I can vouch for it. But, maybe Hayden was just momentarily out of his mind when he did all this. When we see him next, we can talk it out, and maybe he won't be so hostile anymore!" Morgan hurriedly agreed, trying to look soft and sympathetic as he explained.
"Don't be too nice to Hayden. We're about to start a new internet company, and Hayden's going to be our competition in the future!" Lily shot him a glare, not wanting him to show any weakness or softness toward Hayden.
But still, Morgan felt guilty and couldn't go too far with being harsh. Logan was a huge variable—if he got caught, it would cost him dearly.
He lowered his head, remaining silent.
At that moment, Charlotte and the others were stunned, their faces filled with shock.
They stared at each other, unable to respond right away.
They were utterly shocked and couldn't accept what they were hearing. It felt like a wave of fear washed over them.
"How… How could this happen? How could he do something like this?" Charlotte's lips trembled as she murmured, her mind filled with a sense of deep unease.
This was a truth she couldn't accept. The son she had always known could never have turned against his own family.
She clenched her fists, her mind full of anger and confusion. As a mother, how could she allow her daughter to be hurt?
But the one doing the hurting was her own son.
"But why would Hayden do this? It doesn't make sense. Maybe he was just taking pictures. Are you sure you didn't misunderstand something? He had no reason to target you like that!" Julia immediately focused on the key point, furrowing her brow as she questioned.
"Why else would he do it? He must've found out about me and Morgan starting an internet company! He's just trying to find something to use against us to threaten us. People like him are calculating. You never know what he might do next!" Lily said with conviction.
"But he wouldn't do anything illegal, right? I can't even imagine such a thing! Isn't he afraid of getting reported and ruining his future?" Anna seemed surprised, looking at Lily with confusion.
"He must've spent a lot of money to make these arrangements, cutting off all escape routes. Why are you all defending him? Don't you care about my safety? I'm the victim here. You can't just side with him!" Lily's frustration was clear, and she raised her voice.
It was hard for her to believe that even after everything she had been through, her family was still siding with Hayden.
"What are you talking about? We're not defending him. We just want to get to the truth," Julia immediately explained.
"Yeah, we just want to understand more and get a clearer picture of what happened." Anna nodded in agreement.
"You asked me, and I told you the truth. But now, you're still defending Hayden. I don't know if I'm more insignificant to you than he is!"
Lily was furious, glaring at Charlotte and the others. The anger she'd felt earlier at the medieval town was still burning.
"Lily, they are just trying to help. Don't be like this." Morgan quickly tried to calm things down.
"That's enough! You're coming with me right now. I'm going to take down Hayden's media company and make sure he's finished!"
Lily immediately grabbed Morgan's arm and stormed out.
