Chapter 408
"What does this mean? Are they really just going to ignore me? Hayden must have said something to them again. That bastard! He's so despicable! He's ruined everything for me! It makes me so mad!"
Lily gritted her teeth, her body trembling with fury. She was pacing back and forth like a cornered animal, consumed by rage.
"Lily, don't be so angry. Maybe they just didn't want to make things worse?" Morgan's lips twitched slightly, his expression adopting a false sympathy.
Clearly, he didn't want things to spiral out of control either. If this were investigated, he'd surely be implicated.
"Morgan, you're too soft-hearted. If you keep acting like this, you'll always be taken advantage of! When you go to college, you need to toughen up, or you'll end up suffering. Ugh, how can I trust you to handle yourself in college with this attitude?"
Lily sighed. Her face was full of concern for him, and her eyes betrayed her pain.
"Lily, don't worry. I'll remember!" Morgan said seriously.
"Alright. Let's go. We need to take care of the company's business first. We'll find a way to target Hayden's company and seize his market share and traffic! We'll start with this. Like Dad said, we'll defeat him openly and fairly!" Lily said with righteous conviction, radiating confidence and ambition.
"Alright!"
Morgan finally let out a breath of relief. As long as Lily didn't push the film studio issue, everything else seemed manageable.
…
Meanwhile, Charlotte, Julia, and Anna stepped outside.
Anna drove, leading them away.
"What's going on? Where are we going?" Julia asked.
"We were talking so well just now. Why are we leaving? Shouldn't we try to persuade Lily again?" Charlotte added, puzzled.
If Anna had not signaled them to leave, they might still have been stuck there.
"I feel like something's off. It seems like Lily lied to us," Anna said calmly as she drove, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.
"What?"
Charlotte and Julia froze, their faces a mix of shock and disbelief. They couldn't believe that it was Anna who had said those words.
"Please explain. How did you figure out she lied? What did you notice?" Julia asked quickly, her anxiety evident.
She hadn't even considered that possibility. If Lily had really lied, didn't that mean everything she had said about Hayden was… actually harming him?
"It's simple. If Lily had really been bullied by Hayden, asking us for help would be one thing. But the most important part is that she would've definitely gone to the police over this matter. Hayden would've faced severe consequences if the police had gotten involved, and it would've affected his future studies too.
"But Lily didn't do that. Look at how angry she is now. Do you really think it's because she wants to give Hayden a chance?" Anna explained, her voice soft but sure.
Charlotte and Julia were left stunned, their expressions blank as they processed her words.
They both trusted Anna's intellect. After all, she was a genius who had gotten into Brighton University.
This reasoning made them realize that Lily had deceived them.
"So, what should we do now? I even spoke so harshly to Hayden earlier… He must be so disappointed and maybe even desperate!"
