Chapter 414
When Morgan spotted Jenny, his heart sank. He couldn't understand why she was here—or why she was dressed so impeccably.
Was this Hayden's doing?
His body stiffened, and his gaze locked onto her with a deep intensity. When it came to Jenny, the first thing that crossed Morgan's mind was always her connection to Hayden.
"Hmph! Since you're here, I might as well make it worth your while," he muttered. "You'd better show your worth."
A mocking smile appeared on Morgan's lips as he walked toward Jenny.
At that moment, Jenny instinctively noticed his gaze and froze. She hadn't expected him to spot her among the crowd of over a hundred people.
Was this some strange coincidence?
She felt a wave of panic rising inside her. Without thinking, she took a step back.
In the end, she ducked behind a woman, trying to blend into the crowd.
Many people around them noticed the odd tension in the air, sensing that something wasn't right. They exchanged looks and glanced around, but no one could figure out who Morgan was staring at.
However, Morgan was unfazed. He strolled forward with a casual, almost playful smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure you don't realize it yet, but the company you're about to join is special and has a big future. How big, you ask? Big enough that even competing companies will want to work with us. Isn't that something?"
With that, Morgan became the center of attention, his calm demeanor commanding admiration from everyone around him. The women gazed at him, silently hoping for his attention, but he remained aloof.
Ignoring them, Morgan made his way straight toward Jenny. He shot her a cold, mocking smile before suddenly yanking her toward him.
"Everyone, this woman is the sister of the boss behind the popular streamer, Christina! I bet you didn't see that coming. Even with her connections, she chose to work here!"
Using Jenny as an example to further his point, he continued, "If she's here, what does that tell you about Christina's company? It seems like they're struggling! There's no other company in Stonybrook that can offer you a better pay than mine. So, clearly, your choice was the right one. You all have a good eye."
Morgan spoke loudly and arrogantly, showing no respect for Jenny and treating her as nothing more than a pawn in his game.
Jenny was shaken.
Why was this happening?
Her face flushed with humiliation. She hadn't expected Morgan to treat her this way. A deep wave of shame swept over her, and she couldn't stop herself from lowering her head as tears welled up in her eyes.
She felt utterly embarrassed. She had been reduced to an object of ridicule in front of everyone.
"Oh my. So, she's from Christina's company too?" someone whispered. "If someone like her is here, that company must be in trouble."
"Tsk, tsk. Wasn't Christina doing well recently? What happened to her?"
"I'm posting this online. This is huge news!"
