Cassandra had no idea what Max Winters might be thinking, but seeing how he just seemed a bit aloof and not at all bothered by her teasing, made her feel less uneasy and a little more at ease.
Not long after, the car slowly pulled up in front of an upscale restaurant in a prime location.
"Go book a private room," Damien Blackwood said calmly to Max.
"Yes, sir." Max understood immediately, nodded respectfully, got out of the car swiftly, and closed the door before walking toward the restaurant.
The room had already been booked in advance. Damien’s words were just an excuse to send Max away so he could be alone with Cassandra.
As Cassandra reached for the door handle, Damien gently stopped her.
She turned to him, puzzled. "Aren’t we going in with Mr. Winters?"
“It’s dinner hour, the place is probably packed. I just wanted him to check if the room’s ready, so we don’t waste a trip,” Damien explained seriously, confident she wouldn’t doubt him.
