“The weather’s crazy good today, and man, the air’s super fresh!”
Amelia Johnson looked around, found a quiet spot, then set up her easel. Holding up her brush, she focused on comparing the colors when she noticed something rustling in the nearby grass.
A little animal maybe?
She glanced back, thinking that if anything sketchy happened, she’d bolt real quick!
But when she looked again, a man suddenly stumbled out from the grass. He was covered in blood—bright red, way too freaky to ignore.
Her eyes flew wide open in shock.
She just stood there frozen, completely blanking out.
“This—what the—?”
She wanted to run, like really run, but her legs felt like they had roots in the ground—stuck.
The man stumbled straight toward her. When he got about a meter away, he collapsed flat onto the ground.
Maybe because he passed out, Amelia finally let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding.
This whole thing screamed danger. Getting involved was definitely not on her to-do list.
