Sabrina Johnson was standing by the river, looking lost and defeated. Amelia Johnson rushed over and grabbed her arm. “Sabrina, what are you thinking? You can’t be like this.”
“I’m not doing anything stupid,” Sabrina said between sobs. “I didn’t do anything wrong. I know it sounds fishy, and even I wouldn’t believe it, but it’s the truth.”
Amelia gently wiped her tears with a tissue. “Sabrina, even if others don’t believe you, Ethan and I do.”
“Ethan, do you believe me?” Sabrina didn’t care what Amelia thought—only Ethan’s opinion mattered to her.
“What really happened?” Ethan Collins looked her straight in the eyes, voice low. “Where did that painting come from?”
Sabrina mumbled, “I found it at home. I thought it was pretty, so I kept it.”
“Where exactly did you find it? That painting was given to Amelia by a friend,” Ethan pressed.
