Frederick turned at the sound of Hazel's voice and strode over to her in long, confident steps.
As always, he reached out to ruffle her hair affectionately. “Let’s go home.”
Hazel blinked up at him, slightly puzzled. “How did you know I was here?”
“You never go straight home after school,” he replied, eyes glimmering with quiet amusement. “If you’re not in the classroom, where else would you be but the lab?”
“I could’ve gone to Helen’s bubble tea shop,” Hazel muttered under her breath.
But Frederick heard her. A fond smile tugged at his lips as he handed her a still-warm cup of milk tea. “Here.”
Surprised, Hazel took it and sipped—smooth, rich, and unmistakably familiar. Her eyes lit up with delight.
“Where did you get this? I’ve tried every flavor at Helen’s place, but none of them taste like yours.”
