Chapter 1090
When Frederick's car pulled up to the gates of the manor, Bernie was already there, leaning heavily against the stone pillar. One hand was clenched tightly around his thigh, the self-inflicted pain his only tether to clarity.
As soon as he saw Frederick, Bernie rasped, "Ivy is still in my room."
Frederick’s brows drew together slightly. He didn’t ask for more details—he didn’t need to. Everything fell into place in an instant.
Just then, Bernie’s eyes drifted past Frederick, locking onto a figure trailing silently behind him. Slender, poised, and eerily familiar, she seemed to emerge from the shadows themselves. For a heartbeat, her silhouette overlapped with the face that had haunted his every dream and delusion.
A crooked smile tugged at Bernie’s lips. The drug’s strong. Just a few seconds without pain and I’m hallucinating again...
But even knowing it was an illusion, he couldn't help grinning.
Still... it's good to see her. At least the drug has its perks.
Melanie, seeing the dopey
