Frederick had all the materials ready for the mech in just an hour.
But for Jane, that hour felt like an eternity. Bryson, the ever-curious chatterbox, bombarded her with questions—what books she was reading, why she joined the mech class, where she went to school before, and even what she had for breakfast that morning. She was half-convinced that if Frederick didn’t show up soon to announce the materials were ready, Bryson might’ve asked her how many times she went to the bathroom in a day.
Once they entered the lab, Jane picked up one of the materials Frederick had prepared and headed straight for the press machine to flatten it into a sheet. Frederick’s eyes widened in alarm, and he quickly snatched the material from her hands. “Jane, this is dangerous work. Let me handle it.”
