Kai just laughed, not bothering to debate with him.
Out on the lotus pond, three small wooden boats were already drifting among the flowers.
"Mommy, I want that big flower over there!" Aiden pointed excitedly at a lush lotus bloom.
"Okay, baby," Lilah chuckled and turned to Gabriel. "Babe, steer us that way."
Gabriel didn't say anything, just quietly moved the boat closer to the big, layered lotus, then reached out and picked it to hand to Aiden.

"Me?" Lilah blinked. "Aren't we picking them to make lotus paste cakes?"
