Gabriel Wallace didn’t say a word. He took the file and started reading through it carefully.
His brows instantly furrowed.
Same year, same month, same day of birth—
Even the time was almost identical.
And both were girls.
Yet, the Thorntons’ daughter was born with no breath and declared dead.
Gabriel suddenly tossed the file onto his desk.
Something about this... just didn’t sit right with him.
“Sir, is something wrong?” Lance Owen asked, picking up on his reaction.
“This is all you've got? Nothing else?” Gabriel sounded like he was trying to piece something together, but the pieces weren’t clicking.
Lance looked a little embarrassed. “It’s been over twenty years, after all. Records from back then weren’t kept well. I tried looking for their prenatal check-ups but came up empty—the hospital doesn’t have them anymore. What I’ve managed to dig up took a lot of effort. But apparently, our Mrs. Wallace had a really rough delivery—was in labor for over twenty hours before giving birth.”
