Vivian Grant almost laughed out loud.
What, jump from one frying pan into another?
“Thanks for the heads-up, Mr. Drake.” She kept walking as she asked, “Any idea when I’ll be able to see my parents?”
“Tonight.” Samuel glanced behind him. “Looks like you and Mr. Reeves reached some kind of deal.”
Vivian’s expression shifted briefly.
Not her fault—Vincent Reeves’ terms were honestly disgusting.
“What? Were his demands that outrageous?” Samuel asked, his tone full of faux concern.
Vivian hesitated for a second, then shook her head. “Nothing worth mentioning.”
She turned quickly and made her way back to her room.
Watching her leave, Samuel’s eyes darkened with a thoughtful glint.
A moment later, Vincent Reeves rolled himself out of the sitting room in his wheelchair and noticed Samuel standing there, staring into space.
