Chapter 254
Di Jing First People's Hospital.
Sarah Knight stood silently by the hospital bed, her lips pressed into a thin line as she stared at the frail woman connected to IV drips—the only thing keeping her heartbeat steady on the monitor.
This woman was her mother. The one she hadn’t seen in years.
After finding out her mom was still alive, she’d thought about this moment nonstop—just to see her for herself. But now, standing here, face to face, Sarah couldn’t say a single word. Not even a tear rolled down her cheek.
“If you're upset, just cry it out. It'll help a little,” Bennett Ford said gently from the side, his eyes full of worry as he watched how thin and small Sarah looked.
But she stayed quiet. Her expression didn’t change, except her eyes—they turned darker, deeper.
The silence stretched on, so long that Bennett started getting anxious. His brows furrowed, and he finally called out, “Sarah…”
As if she guessed what he was about to say, Sarah cut him off with a small shake of her head.
