No one knew how long it took before Alexander Barron finally snatched the phone from Lillian’s hand. He let out a breath and tried to sound calm as he talked to Summer Knight on the other end.
“Summer, Lillian’s just drunk. Don’t mind what she said just now. They all just miss you, that’s all. Everyone’s a bit bummed they didn’t get to see you.”
A soft chuckle came from the phone. “I get it. I miss them too, honestly. It's just been crazy here. Once I get things settled, I’ll come back to visit. You take care of yourself, okay?”
“Got it.”
Alexander had more to say but didn’t get the chance. Lillian was still going wild in the living room, her drunk antics causing chaos. With no choice, he ended the call.
