Chapter 50 Getting Out of Hand
A sudden weight pressed down on me, and the faint scent of rose-scented body wash drifted over, wrapping around me like a spell. I looked up and saw Yvette's face so close that I could have counted her eyelashes. Her dark eyes were like the night sky, deep and unending, and my heart started to race.
As I remembered our pending divorce, the image of Randall also flickered across my mind. Steeling myself, I gritted my teeth and managed to push Yvette away just a little.
She hadn't expected that. For a split second, she froze, her expression quickly darkening. Her jaw was clenched tightly. But to my surprise, she didn't explode in anger. Instead, she just stood there, a strange silence hanging in the air between us.
