Chapter 10

Sabrina didn't even think-she just turned and bolted for the door. But the moment her hand touched the knob, she froze. Her hands were covered in blood, her clothes torn to shreds. Looking like this, where was she even supposed to go? She glanced back, glaring at Cassian. He wasn't tending to his wounds either. Instead, he walked to the bar, pulled out a bottle of hard liquor, and took a few heavy swigs. The strong alcohol stung the air, and the red creeping into his eyes made him look even more terrifying. Leaning back against the door, Sabrina's heart was pounding. This guy had serious anger issues, always moody and unpredictable. Marrying someone like him? Dreaming of a happy life? Yeah right. She mentally rolled her eyes and mumbled inside, "Really, Sabrina? So your way out was cheating and running off with someone else? You seriously betrayed Cassian?" No answers. Her mind was a total blank. She edged away from him carefully, heading to the bathroom to wash the blood off her hands. Realizing she was a mess all over, she stayed alert while wiping herself down with a damp towel. It was honestly ridiculous that he'd still kissed her looking the way she did. Glancing in the mirror at her swollen lips, anger surged-but her ears were burning red. She finished cleaning up and peeked out. He was still drinking, and now, below him, a puddle of thick blood had started to pool on the floor. It was honestly disturbing. Sabrina hesitated, wanting to keep her distance. But... she had hurt him. After wrestling with herself for a second, she grabbed a wet towel and held it out to him. "Here. At least clean up." Cassian didn't even look at her. More than half the bottle of whiskey was already gone. The way he was downing it-it wasn't just drinking anymore, this was full-blown alcohol abuse. Sabrina's frown deepened. Hot temper, heavy drinking... probably the type who'd raise a hand to his wife too. The more she thought about it, the more convinced she was-divorcing him was the only right move. "Fine. Don't wipe it." She tossed the towel down and said firmly, "If a formal agreement is what you want, have your lawyer draft the papers. But make it quick-I don't have time to waste." Cassian narrowed his eyes, one hand propped lazily against his forehead. The man was good-looking, but his indifference made her blood boil. He stayed quiet, and she had no interest in a staring contest. Just as she was about to leave, he pressed a button on the desk phone. His voice, low and ice-cold with a hint of drunken haze, rang out behind her. "Someone come. Lock Sabrina in the basement. No food or drink. No one lets her out unless it's by my order." Sabrina spun around, glaring. He calmly set down the bottle and stood up, those polished dress shoes clicking ominously on the floor-each step seemed to echo right in her chest. He walked closer, breath laced with booze, and tilted her chin up. "You're still just as naive." Her brows furrowed as his calloused thumb brushed against her cheek, his words cutting like ice. "I warned you on our wedding day-there's no leaving me. Not alive." Those dangerous, cold eyes made Sabrina shiver-this man was seriously unhinged. She snapped, laughing bitterly. "Fine then, Mr. Bennett. No divorce? I'll make you famous-for having the most unfaithful wife in the country." Cassian let out a low, mocking laugh. "Keep going. Let's see how many lives you've got to burn through." Sabrina stared him down, refusing to back off-but her legs were trembling. That standoff didn't last long. A few burly men walked in, nodded respectfully to Cassian, then dragged her out the door without a word. Her face full of fury, Sabrina balled up her fists and glared daggers at him. Until the door slammed shut, not a single pleading word came out of her mouth. Cassian slowly sat down in the chair again, his tall frame casting a shadow over the bloodstained floor. He stayed like that for a long time, unmoving. The storm cloud in his eyes never once cleared.
