Chapter 11
Darius was in immense pain. Every time he closed his eyes, Iris's last words to him echoed in his mind.
If he could do it all over again, Iris would not have accepted Darius's confession under the cherry blossom tree when she was eighteen.
He held Iris's portrait in his arms and repeated countless apologies.
But no matter how many apologies he made, he could not bring Iris back.
Darius could only fall asleep briefly under the numbing effects of alcohol, but he was soon awakened by nightmares.
When the doorbell rang, Darius did not move.
After a long time, the front door opened.
In the light, Darius could not quite make out the person's features.
But the figure seemed familiar, like Iris.
“Darius.”
Charlotte's voice rang out, and Darius hung his head in disappointment, throwing the wine glass on the coffee table in front of him.
