It was hard to tell how long it had been before Delia finally recharged herself enough to let go. She loosened her hug just a bit, clearly reluctant. Her eyes were still a little red, but the clarity had returned to her gaze.
She reached out to fix Curtis's slightly rumpled collar, smoothing it down gently and with care.
"You go handle your work," she said, her voice carrying a faint nasal tone but trying to sound breezy. "I'm starving. Gonna grab some breakfast."
As she stood up, her eyes shifted toward the doorway where Noah stood. "Business is important, but don't hog my husband all day, alright?"
Noah's mouth twitched, barely noticeable, but his expression stayed respectful, and he gave a slight bow. "Don't worry, ma'am. I'll keep things brief with Mr. Stockton."
