Even with Sebastian Wexler holding her hand, Celeste Harper could still hear the distant crackle of fireworks breaking the night's silence.

Bursts of red, blue, purple, and green lit up the sky above the Ferris wheel—each one here and gone in a flash, but coming one after another like they’d never stop.
"It’s over."
The final flare faded, marking the amusement park’s closing time.
Celeste took a deep breath. Her chest felt strangely hollow, like something was missing.
Then, Sebastian's voice cut through the stillness, slow and thoughtful.
"Endings are just new beginnings. Tomorrow at nine, the park opens again. Fireworks will still go off tomorrow night. Nothing really changes."
She blinked, stunned for a second, then nodded slowly.
Yeah. The sun would rise like always. The Earth would keep spinning. Life moves on—even when people leave.
