Celeste Harper ran into the night, not even sure where she was heading. It wasn’t until she left the apartment complex and found herself on the empty street outside that she finally stopped, leaning against a tree, gasping for breath.

Sebastian Wexler caught up to her, eyes fixed on her pale face as he rushed to her side. “You can’t just take off like that. Are you alright? Are you hurt?”
