Davis’s POV
I shifted uncomfortably, unsure how to comfort a man like Everett.
I’d been by his side since graduation, used to seeing him as this commanding, unshakable figure. I never imagined he could be thrown off by love like this.
I’d been single for 28 years, not even one relationship to my name. What advice could I possibly offer?
Still, I’d worked with Scarlett for three years. From what I knew of her, she wasn’t the type to hold grudges without reason.
“Mr. Robinson, can I speak honestly?”
He gave a slight nod. “Go on.”
I took a deep breath and finally said, “To be real, I feel like she’s changed a lot from the woman I knew those three years ago. Maybe she’s hiding something. But one thing I’m sure of—back then, she really did love you.”
He let out a soft laugh. “Back then, yeah.”
