Scarlett’s POV
I had reserved a private room at one of the city’s top specialty restaurants.
Everett and I used to come here a few times during our first year of marriage. The food always hit the spot. But later, we both got swallowed by work and just… never came back.
The place looked completely different now. Word was they’d renovated at the start of the year—new investors, new menu.
Sitting alone in that unfamiliar decor, I felt oddly sentimental.
In the three years we were together, I could count our real dates on one hand—and almost all of them had been here.
Honestly, this was probably the one sweet spot I could recall from our entire marriage. And even this tiny corner of memory hadn’t stayed the same.
I let out a quiet, self-deprecating laugh.
“Look at that… even the restaurant changed. Guess there really is no going back for us.”
