Hearing Everett’s words, I was stunned.
Wait. Was he serious? Was this big guy really letting my friend Scarlett go?
I knew it was what Scarlett wanted. But still… I couldn’t help feeling a little sad. Was he really giving up? Just like that?
If he still loved her, shouldn’t he be fighting for it? Trying to make it right?
I dug my nails into the handle of my suitcase, eyes fixed on the scuffed surface. My heart twisted with unease.
