#Chapter 58: The Weight of a Past Miscarriage
Alaric’s POV
I’ve become someone I don’t even recognize.
“Today is September 19 -Alaric.”
Cara doesn’t respond to my text message.
Then I realize: the other times Cara hasn’t responded, it was on account of her husband. When Aylon Auburn blocked my number on Cara’s phone, that wasn’t her own doing. It had been his doing.
But this time, it was Cara herself ignoring me. Rejecting me.
It was no one else’s choice, but hers alone.
I find a chair in the hospital hallway and take a seat, collecting my thoughts.
Many people pass by, nurses and various staff. Some even try to speak to me, but I’m in no mood to be social.
“Hello, Alpha King!”
“Wonderful weather we’re having today, isn’t it?”
“Alpha King, we are so glad to see you here again!”
My mood was a bit off, but I still greeted them. "Hello."
"...Oh!"
Clearly, I startle them. I pressed my lips together, knowing that not everyone could be like Cara, who was never intimidated by the Alpha king's pressure.
