Chapter 573

The gaming center was on the eighth floor. Gordon exchanged a bunch of gaming coins for Mayra. There were a dozen claw machines, and there was the most trendy pink teddy bear in each one of them. Countless people lined up, waiting for their chances. Mayra wasted a few dozen coins and didn't get anything in return, so she turned to Gordon for help. Gordon managed to win the teddy bear with just two coins while everyone else had failed. Mayra was excited but didn't make much of a noise. She covered her mouth and looked at him with admiration. "Gordon, you're so great at this. How did you do it?" Gordon gave her the teddy bear. "Samuel designed the gaming program here, and I just did a factory reset for the machine, making it 90% possible to succeed. Stay quiet about it." Mayra hid the teddy bear and nodded seriously. "Yeah, I won't tell anyone." Gordon asked, "Is there anything else you like?" "No, this is great. I love it." She already had a much bigger teddy bear, but she liked the one in her arms better. Gordon glanced at his watch. "It's almost time. Let's go eat." "Sure." Mayra held his arm, and the two headed for the elevator. Time seemed to fly despite the fact that they didn't do much. Before they realized it, the sky had turned dark. Out of safety concerns, the ski resort was closed, and there were many people dining at this time. Thankfully, Gordon made a reservation ahead of time. "What time do you want to head back tomorrow?" Mayra toyed with the teddy bear's ear. "Let's go early. We'd have to go to bed early tonight or I might be late for school tomorrow. I need to catch the bus." "I'll drive you," he said. He then noticed her hand was slightly cold. "Are you cold?" As his hand wrapped around hers, she felt his warmth and gripped back with a smile. "A bit. Just hold me tight." Gordon wasn't aware that he was being teased and pulled her hand into his pocket. The elevator was going down the floors. When the elevator doors opened, Mayra froze. Meeting the person's gaze, Mayra panicked and only snapped out of it when Gordon tightened his grip around her hand. Tension rose in the air. The elevator doors were about to close when Anderson reached out to stop it from closing. "Aren't you coming in?" Anderson's gaze remained fixated on Mayra, but his tone remained calm. Still, Mayra could sense the storm hidden behind the calmness on the surface. Anderson's eyes followed her closely. Her hand was still in Gordon's pocket, and she had forgotten to take it out. She could feel the pulsing of Gordon's palm, and she forced herself to regain her composure. Holding his hand tightly, she said, "It's fine. You can go ahead. We left something behind." With that said, she pulled Gordon away. Upon arriving at the dining hall, Mayra panicked. Her eyes were filled with concern as she said, "I didn't know he would be here. Were you trying to let go of my hand just now?" "I thought… you'd leave with him." Gordon's tone made it sound like he was being wronged. Mayra grabbed his hands. "What makes you think that? Alright, it's going to be fine." She couldn't tell if she was trying to console Gordon or herself. "It's not like he just found out about us. Andy… still cares about me."
