As night fell, the cityscape outside the car window slowly unfolded like a painting. Neon lights flickered, casting a mesmerizing dance of shadows and light.
Shane drove attentively and occasionally glanced at the rear-view mirror to gauge Mayra's mood.
The air inside the car was heavy. Mayra curled up in her seat, clearly in a troubled state. Half an hour into the drive, they arrived at the apartment building.
"Ms. Sadler, we've arrived."
Without hesitation, Mayra opened the car door and rushed out without hesitation like she was running away.
Shane remained seated in the driver's seat as he watched Mayra hurry upstairs. Once she was safely inside, he made a call. "Mr. Anderson, Ms. Sadler has arrived home."
