Chapter 840
Mayra flipped the hidden switch, and a cabinet opened, revealing another secret room.
She shone her flashlight down an endless staircase swallowed by darkness. Spotting a circuit breaker on the wall, she reached out and flipped it. The whole area lit up, casting a dim glow.
The incandescent bulbs hung on the walls, gently swaying in the breeze blowing in while emitting a grating, metallic creak. A heavy stench of blood and rot soon filled the air.
Mayra had been held here and tortured for three years.
Was she afraid?
If this place was compared to an empty hell, then Mayra was the vengeful spirit who had crawled back from it to seek justice. Hence, she wasn't afraid anymore.

As she reached the basement, she saw two cages. Inside each lay a straw mat, along with blankets that hadn't been used in ages.
In one corner, several jars sat in disarray, each emitting a putrid smell that grew stronger the closer she got.
