He kept pushing her for a second kid, and even hinted you could find someone else if she couldn’t give him one. How did you feel about that—if a woman can’t have kids anymore? I mean, it’s not like she never could. She already gave you one child.”
Before I even finished, he cut in, “You got it wrong.”
I paused, confused. Was Gavin’s wife complaining to me not telling the full story? Was there more going on that I didn't know?
Then Gavin said, “It wasn’t my dad. It was our dad.”
I gave a sheepish smile. “Right, our dad, not just yours. Sorry, I’m still getting used to that.”
“It’s fine,” he said, shaking his head. Then he answered my question. “If a man truly loves someone, whether she can have kids or not doesn’t change that. Tons of gay couples can’t have children and still stay together. Having even just one kid is already a blessing.
