In the long hallway outside the reception room, Adrian and Dominic walked side by side, keeping up the appearance of a close brotherly bond.
Beneath the surface, though, tension simmered.
Adrian turned his head, his smile thin and insincere as he looked at Dominic.
"Dominic, Sullivan Corporation's operations will be quite a burden. I'll be the one putting in all the effort," he said, patting Dominic's shoulder with feigned warmth. His tone dripped with meaning.
"Finances are tedious and full of pitfalls. Why don't you hand the accounts over to me? I'll take care of everything. You can just sit back as a shareholder, collect dividends, and live a good life. Wouldn't that be perfect?"
The words were dressed up like advice, but Dominic wasn't a fool. He heard the undertones clearly enough. Adrian was trying to strip away what real power he had left and reduce him to a puppet with nothing but a title.
Dominic let out a cold laugh inside, but on the surface, he played along.
